Michael Pachter - who else - thinks the Wii U will be sold during the Christmas season. The grumbling about the console had no influence.
The Wii U comes not at all testers and customer enthusiasm. Nintendo's new console is struggling after the launch in the U.S. with a few technical problems and correspondingly bad press: The firmware update is too big, the operating system is too tough, the console after an aborted update irretrievably "gebrickt" that is defective.
Analyst Michael Pachter of Wedbush Morgan Securities, never short of an opinion believes, however, that negative publicity will not hurt the sales of the Wii U in the Christmas season and beyond. Pachter says:
"I do not think they [the negative votes] a huge impact on the sales start, and expect the launch allocation of consoles as well as repeat orders through March 2013, sold out. (...)
The whole negatives will never stop completely, so I expect that lasts until after Christmas. I think [Nintendo] all produced [Wii U] units will be sold through March, which is 5.5 million copies. The company will have shipped three million by Christmas and all consoles will be sold out. "
Pachter also sees no impact of negative news on the upcoming launch of the Wii U in Europe and Japan.
In Europe, the Wii U is on 30 November in the trade.
